This is such a super stunning French antique over mantle mirror!
The mirror is c1900 and is a heavy, solid walnut piece with some lovely detail, most notably the pairs of columns on either side of the mirror. The top section is also very pretty, with mini columns on either side of a central carved crest. On either side of the top there are a couple of mini finials.
The original mirror is bevelled and has some gorgeous foxing in it, adding to its character as this is only prevelant in old glass. The main area of foxing is on the top right edge of the mirror which is just visibible in the pictures.
This stunning piece would look fabulous above a fire place in a home with good proportions as it's quite a large piece. It would also work above a console table.
The mirror has been hand painted in Annie Sloan's 'Paris Grey' before being gently aged using various waxing techniques and then subtly distressed. One this process has been completed there has been a veil of white wax added over the entire piece giving it the archetypal fabulous French look.

Wow! What a stunning statement piece this is! It would certainly take a house of Georgian or Victorian proportions to take this beauty!
There is such a lot of gorgeous detail within the frame of this mirror, every time I look at it I spot something new, it's simply spectacular!
The mirror is divided into four sections within the frame and has been hand painted in the Annie Sloan favourite 'Paris Grey', a fitting name as the mirror is very French in its style! Once painted this piece has been very subtly distressed adding a time worn character to it with glimmers of gilt and white (the base coat) protruding through.
This is a huge piece and I imagine it would look superb above a large console table in a hallway or on a lovely large staircase. It would also add glamour to a large bathroom or bedroom but I think I would have to place it where it could be seen and admired by everyone who came to the house!
